"Expanded Drawing" Workshop
In recent years drawing has shifted to incorporate a wide range of materials and processes. In contemporary art, drawing might refer to a physical struggle, a cinematic sequence, an object made linear, or a geopolitical borderline.
This 2-day workshop explores what drawing is, and does, across a range of disciplines and over a broad historical period.
Key questions raised by this workshop include: What is lost or gained by expanding the concept of drawing beyond its familiar foundation in paper and line? Can drawing be found? How should drawing be considered in relation to three dimensions?

As a part of each workshop, participants have the opportunity to share their work-in-progress and get feedback from the class and instructor.
As a part of the workshops held at Berlin Art Institute, I speak with current artist residents about their interests, creative challenges and their in-progress work.
